Sow it, grow it.. Just don’t throw it! Plantable cards and eco-friendly stationery handmade in Sussex
Founded in 2019 by Victoria, a former merchandiser and part-time artist, and Rob, a graphic designer by trade, Ruby & Bo was named after their two small children.
Horrified with the waste generated by the greeting card industry, the pair decided to develop an eco-friendly alternative using wildflower seeds.. the result, 100% compostable cards with a purpose!
Initially launching with a range of plantable greeting cards and seed paper shapes, the two have ventured further into the world of eco-friendly stationery with a growing (no pun intended!) range of plantable notebooks, wrapping paper, recycled ribbon and paper tape.
Ruby & Bo proudly operate a 100% sustainable business, using truly ‘green’ materials and post-consumer waste wherever possible. The company is carbon positive reinvesting a portion of their profits in environmental schemes, such as tree planting.
In fact, with the help of Ecologi and the Eden Reforestation Project, they have planted over 24,000 trees so far!
This unique paper contains 24 varieties of native British wildflowers
The seeds used are non-invasive and the varieties have been exclusively mixed to support bees and other pollinators. That is why Ruby & Bo proudly carry the Royal Horticultural Society’s ‘Plants for Pollinators’ badge on all of their plantable products.
Their seed mix is sent to artisan papermakers in the South of England (no air miles here) where they are embedded into quality handmade paper.
The paper is hung to air dry high in the rafters of the mill to further improve the germination rate of the wonderful seeds.
Ruby & Bo use this paper to hand make all of their plantable cards and other seedy goodies in house.
