The Original Cornish Sea Glass Jewellery. Sustainably handmade using recycled sterling silver + 9ct gold. No two pieces will ever be the same...
Hi there! I'm Sadie, owner of Sadie Jewellery and the original Cornish Sea Glass jeweller based in Cornwall. I specialise in making Sea Glass Jewellery using pieces of Sea Glass that I find hidden in the sand on special (secret!) beaches in Cornwall. I design and make all of my jewellery, Sea Glass and more, in my custom built workspace 'The Sea Glass Studio' - overlooking the water in Jubilee Wharf, Penryn.
I've been a jeweller for 12 years and hunting for Sea Glass since forever. No two pieces of Sea Glass are the same, which is what makes each finished item of jewellery so special - they're totally unique. My aim is to enhance the raw beauty of the sea glass, only complimeting the work that the Ocean has already done, keeping it minimal and clean.
Sustainability is a key focus of mine and wherever possible I use recycled sterling silver and gold. I'm a proud member of 1% for the planet.
Totally unique little treasures, hidden in the sand.
You may be asking what is Sea Glass? Well, it's physically weathered glass that has been naturally tumbled by the ocean's tides, currents, waves and sand.
Sea Glass has a frosted powdery complexion that glimmers in the sunlight upon the shore. Each piece is completely unique with it's own story as to how it was formed and how it got to where it's found. It takes decades, even centuries to form the glass until the edges are perfectly rounded.
In Cornwall we have a strong maritime connection - much of the glass washed ashore comes from shipwrecks & vintage fishing buoys. Another source is Victorian tableware, as prior to the 1900’s everything came in glass bottles or jars. It was common at this time for for people to discard their unwanted glassware into the sea, thus creating these fascinating ocean gems we find today.
All the jewellery I create is totally one off and unique - just like the glass itself. I hope you enjoy looking through my page on Not On The High Street :)
