This is a detailed illustration of a rare Uncompahgre fritillary butterfly. It has one of the smallest ranges of North American butterflies.
It was discovered on Mount Uncompahgre, Colorado in 1978 and it's habitat is on the San Juan mountains. They like cool, wet climates and north facing slopes
