Hi, I’m Babs from The Blackheath Pottery. We create handmade porcelain tableware, traditional items such as mugs, bowls, and plates glazed in fresh colours
Babs Belshaw specialises in porcelain tableware and is inspired by the past honouring the craftsmanship that existed all over Ireland in years gone by. She graduated in Ceramics from Cardiff School of Art and Design and the DCCOI Ceramic Skills Course in Kilkenny, Ireland. She previously worked from studios in Wicklow and Dublin. Irish scenery has provided her inspiration.
Potters and scenic coastlines are synonymous. The famous post-war potter Bernard Leach inspired a ceramics movement in Cornwall that's still going strong to this day. The Causeway Coast and Glens in Northern Ireland is world- famous for its beauty. It’s an ideal area to develop as a destination for pottery and ceramic lovers.
The Blackheath Pottery is a unique destination, A converted Georgian Courtyard provides a home for the pottery, the renovated stables and barn now holds a cafe and a working pottery divided by a large glass wall. Eating fresh bakes and drinking amazing coffee off of handcrafted porcelain wares is an experience in itself, being able to watch Babs just a step away from creating the very mug you are drinking from provides a connection from raw clay to a finished piece.
All our items are carefully wrapped, boxed, and then double boxed to ensure safe travel to its destination.
