We are Stine and Nicoline, two friends from Denmark. We’ve spent the last 15 years, working, crying and laughing together, having built one business in eco-friendly décor and party ware we decided to bring more of us into the business and The Danes was born. Our focus being bringing the seasons, nature, greater sustainability and Scandinavian inspiration and creativity to everyday life.

We work and ship everything from our offices in Sussex, taking inspiration from our Scandinavian roots and the beautiful Ashdown Forest.

We are also keen to introduce you to hygge in its true'st form. Hygge can't easily be described, and whilst it’s that feeling of contentment you have when you’re snuggled up with the family by the fire, it is so much more. And it changes with the seasons and its light.

Hygge is about creating special and memorable moments every day, just by paying a bit more attention to the details that can change the ordinary and everyday moments.

We take the ordinary and aim to make it extraordinary by designing and stocking products to help you make this happen.
