The frame parts will gain a surface layer of rust when exposed to the elements, which will not affect the structure of the product.
The cooking grate should be seasoned before use to avoid rust, please see below for seasoning instructions.

Heat over a fire or in the oven set to maximum temperature and apply a light vegetable oil (not olive) to the surface and allow to smoke off. After this is done a few times, the surface will be seasoned to a black colour, much the same as you would do with cast iron cookware.
