Birthed during the latter stages of the pandemic at a time when I was going through my own identity crisis, I noticed so many around me including my own children had little pride in our [African] culture.

I realised this feeling of disconnect had been with me since my own childhood, the lack of representation and the time when it wasn't cool to be African. It was a shock to stand up to my own fear of being 'othered' & I wondered how many others felt like this & needed for that part of themselves to be seen.

YDay - 'Your Day' was created with the aim to help people to feel empowered and proud of their heritage and to help them normalise seeing their background, anywhere, sparking conversations and celebrating the joy of culture.

Together with my sisters, we create clothing that evokes a chuckle & honours connections.

We believe that everyone deserves to feel seen and represented, and we hope our clothes will do that for you.
