We hand make all of our furniture out of FSC solid hardwoods which we select ourselves in order to make the most out of each timbers unique colour and tonal variations, and their varied grain patterning. In short, we use hardwoods because they are beautiful and strong. We just love working with the material.
You’ll also find the high density cork we use as the backing boards for our Bureaus to be of a similar quality. It’s thick enough to stick a pin in and dense enough not to fall apart over time.
All of the metal elements in our Bureau are fashioned from brass, including the key. We find it such a warm material which helps our modern Bureau evoke the feel of a classical piece of furniture. We chose traditional ball catches that make a satisfying click as the door is closed, and fit a hidden lock for securing your work away until the next time.
As with all of the furniture that we make we aspire for it last for decades, not years.
