I used vitreous enamel on the copper fox and crow and fired them in a kiln at approximately 800 degrees, twice. The orange is a gorgeous bright tangerine with some of the copper oxides working their way through to give a textured and dappled effect. The black is very deep and glossy for the crow.
Foxes are such beautiful creatures I couldn't resist going for it in one of my designs, and I love Aesop's Fables which is where the inspiration for this piece came from.
The chain is also copper, and treated so that it doesn't leave a mark, and it is adjustable in length as the catch goes into any part of the chain. It is about 45cms (18") at its longest but can be longer if necessary. Just send me an email. The bead on the back is vintage glass and is 10mm in diameter.
Each enamelled piece is unique: they are all made by hand so even though I repeat my designs, each one will look ever so slightly different from the next because of the enamelling process. Their uniqueness is one of their selling points. Each piece in my enamel range has been fired in a kiln between two and four times.
It should be kept in its box when not being worn as enamel is glass fused to metal so if it is bent or dropped on a hard surface it may chip.
As for size, the fox is appoximately 6.3cms, the crow 3.2cms and they sit really nicely on the neck.
